It's very friendly and light hearted between the main characters. The world building and characters are great. It's actually good if you don't compare it to LoM.Įdit: to get best reading experience I suggest you don't compare it to LoTM while reading. There are many similarities between the two. I would not recommend it if you value your time. Our MC has the crazy part in him, and throughout this novel, you'd get a sense of it EVERY SINGLE f*ckING PARAGRAPH. Here comes the supernatural part, or so-called "awakened, " wherein exchanged for a superpower, you get a side effect that may be harmless or something crazy. Ordinary people are helpless and are either nomads or live a life of a boring dystopia under a company's management. The author creates a post-apocalyptic world where the only surviving remnants of the old world are private company's, gods, supernatural. This novel is similar to the "Silly Alchemist, " if you didn't like that one, you sure as hell won't love this work.Īfter reading several books from this author (Magical Arcana and Lord of Mysteries), I was intrigued by this novel. The novel's progress is slow background characters do not act unless the MC talks to them, and the world is never explored. This is a solid novel on its own (main flaw is that it's slow, but is that really a flaw if it eventually delivers?), but if you're gonna compare it to a masterpiece. Derpy, but capable.Īlso, Lord of Mysteries is stronger, but I think this world (not novel) is equally interesting. Nicknames: Hey, Big White, Little White, and Little Red. The novel is more focused on these four (particularly female boss + maybe normie) than purely the MC, although he does get special attention. The MC is a madlad (he's smart, but random lol) who is nicknamed Hey (it's supposed to be derpy) by his buddies, the female leader is a capable female boss type, then there's the cool capable girl, and we have the normie bro that gets teased. I actually really like the comedy (that can be repetitive though, so it depends on if it's your type), characters, worldbuilding, and fights! Lots of clever combat and cool use of powers. The plot's starting to heat up at 500+ chapters lol though it depends on whether you're willing to slog through a LOT of setup to get to the good stuff. Just continue reading if you think it's boring. I don't think it's exactly repetitive, but slowly getting somewhere. There, children are joyous, adults are happy, everything is fine as they are supposed to be.Įvery Antiquarian, Ruin Hunter, and Historian roaming the Ashlands knows: That’s the New World. The people will no longer have to face desolation, monsters, infections, mutations, and all kinds of dangers. The sunlight is dazzling, as if all coldness and darkness are washed away. There, the land is bountiful, as if milk and honey flows freely. To step into the new world, one only needs to find a special key and open that certain door. Intricately tied to this dream is something everyone in the Ashlands believes in: Deep in a particular ruin buried away by danger and famine, a path leading to a new world awaits. He has a grand dream: to save all of humanity. Living in a huge, underground building of Pangu Biology, one of the few remaining factions in this apocalyptic wasteland known as the Ashlands, he acts in unfathomable ways that’s head-scratching, comical, and shrewd. Our protagonist, Shang Jianyao, is crazy-literally crazy, at least that’s what the doctors said. In this latest work by Lord of the Mysteries author, Cuttlefish That Loves Diving, be prepared for a well-thought out and detailed apocalyptic, cyberpunk world with a setting superseding Lord of the Mysteries!
